Dermaplaning Plus a Hydrafacial: The Perfect Pre-Holiday Refresh
If you want to look great in holiday photos, now is the time to get work done on your skin. With dermaplaning and a Hydrafacial®, you can enjoy lasting results well into the new year.

The holidays are a time to relax and unwind, but they also serve as special occasions you want to look your best for. With the holiday season approaching, you might need more than a shallow peel to shed your summer skin. With dermaplaning, you can enjoy a full refresh, followed by a Hydrafacial® to nourish the new skin.

At DMA Aesthetics and Skincare in Spring, Texas, Debbie Awolowo, RN, ARNP, CRNA, MSN, and our team provide a range of skin rejuvenation treatments, including a dermaplaning and Hydrafacial combination, to give you the fresh look you need for the upcoming holiday season.

A match made in heaven

When it comes to skin rejuvenation, it’s all about preference. Many different treatments can be used to improve skin tone, making it difficult to choose between them.

If you’re hesitant to undergo a deep chemical peel or didn’t enjoy your results previously, dermaplaning can provide a more tailored experience that suits your needs. Also known as dermablading, the treatment involves gently scraping away the uppermost layers of skin. This reveals the fresh layers underneath, giving you a temporarily tighter, brighter complexion.

This can address numerous flaws, including:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Hyperpigmentation (sun spots)
  • Dull or uneven skin tone
  • Acne scars

Unlike dermabrasion, which sands down the skin, dermaplaning is more akin to shaving. The process removes dead skin and facial hair while also stimulating the skin and boosting collagen production.

Naturally, your skin is going to be a bit tender following your dermaplaning session. Many patients go home and apply a gentle moisturizer, but you can maximize the results of your treatment by intensely hydrating your skin immediately after dermaplaning.

The most effective way to accomplish this is to add a facial to your treatment. A Hydrafacial combines elements of different treatments, such as mild peels and suction, before finishing with a customized blend of skin serums and moisturizers.

What to expect

Dermaplaning is noninvasive and painless, and it typically takes 20-30 minutes to treat your entire face. Then we perform your Hydrafacial, which typically includes further exfoliation, vacuum cleansing, and hydration.

It can take a few days for the inflammation caused by your treatment to fade, but this is sped up by the Hydrafacial. Neither dermaplaning nor facials require downtime, so you can continue life as normal while your skin heals and reaps the full benefits of the treatment.

Within a week, the fresh skin should be completely mature, and your results can last anywhere from weeks to months. Just make sure to use gentle soaps and moisturizers, and don’t forget to apply sunscreen, even if you don’t plan on spending time outside.
